Workforce Programming & Community Planning

Workforce Programming

The WDC helps westside development and has two Workforce and Skills Training programs aimed at strengthening San Antonio’s creative workforce. Bolstered by its 10-year partnership with Alamo Colleges’ Westside Education and Training Center, La Printeria and the San Antonio Motion Picture Academy provide hands-on training in fine art printmaking and filmmaking. Led by accomplished practitioners in their respective fields, the programs serve adult learners and students.

WETC Partnership

WDC has an eleven-year partnership with Alamo Colleges Westside Education and Training Center (WETC) and other campuses to provide workforce and skills training programming and job placement initiatives for adults of all ages. WETC serves as Alamo Colleges’ community workforce training and higher education center where there is no local community college campus presence. In 2015, the WDC moved its offices to the WETC campus to provide community planning services to secure a new state-of- the-art $23 million workforce training and college curriculum center for the Edgewood community as part of the Alamo Colleges 2017 Bond.

Edgewood Cares Partnership

Edgewood ISD (Edgewood Cares), WETC, Alamo Colleges Southwest Campus – St. Phillips College, and WDC partner to provide workforce training in construction to Edgewood Highschool students and Alamo Colleges students while rehabbing Edgewood homes and small businesses that need improvements.
