“VIA Metropolitan Transit has purchased a vacant industrial complex in a rundown part of the near West Side as part of its plan to turn its “VIA Villa” into a mixed-use development centered around its headquarters.
The transit agency bought the 270,000-square-foot Scobey complex earlier this month from two partnerships managed by local developer Ed Cross, property records show. The historic six-building complex, at 301 N. MedinaSt., is a few doors down from VIA’s headquarters and its Centro Plaza transit hub that opened in 2015. The agency is calling the area VIA Villa.”
